BJC Healthcare is one of the largest nonprofit health care organizations in the United States, focused on delivering services to residents primarily in the greater St. Louis, southern Illinois and mid-Missouri regions. The integrated system, with over 32,000 employees, includes 15 hospitals and multiple health community health locations. BJC medical campus is affiliated with the Washington University Medical School.

Prior to BJC, Walter has 40 plus years applying Lean thinking to improve operations and create the environment for innovation in healthcare, manufacturing and construction at Simpler Consulting, Mercy, Insituform, Cessna and Deere. Walter has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University where he helped charter the MBA Board of Advisors and mentor international MBA students. He is active in the community serving on community boards and service organizations in his home town of St Louis, Missouri.
