VP - Finance Transformation and Financial Close - Corporate Finance Guardian Life

Marcel Esqueu is the VP of Finance Transformation and Financial Close at The Guardian Life Insurance Company (Guardian).

He is a CPA,CITP and CGMA with 30+ years of finance experience most recently within the Life Insurance Industry working at Prudential, New York Life, and MONY/AXA in various roles.

In his current role he leads all financial systems transformation for finance. Recently, he lead a multi-year program for moving Guardian’s financial systems to the Oracle cloud platform. This program came in on time and budget resulting in millions of dollars in savings for finance. As the program functional lead, he was involved in all aspects of the program including, initial assessment, selection for both software vendor and consulting firm, scope, business case development, funding approval, executive communications, program advocate, target operating model, contracting, implementation and vendor management.

Marcel also oversees all aspects of the financial close for the Company including leading a daily call where up to 100 finance associates tune in for the latest updates. In addition, he leads three teams in supporting finance; a center of excellence /governance team; a general ledger accounting operations team, and a fixed assets accounting and reporting team.
