Business process management (BPM) is a combination of methods used to analyze, measure, optimize and automate a company’s business processes. In the modern business landscape, a variety of factors are driving and changing the BPM scene. These range from the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) and the growth of low-code/no-code technology to governance, risk and compliance (GRC) frameworks and sustainability.

The global BPM market reached a value of US $ 14.7 billion in 2023, projected to rise to a value of $ 33.8 billion by 2032, according to the IMARC Group. BPM is experiencing rapid growth driven by the rising pursuit of operational excellence, the growing integration of digital technologies and the increasing need for scalability and flexibility in operations.

As BPM plays an increasing role in helping organizations achieve and surpass their goals, the importance of BPM knowhow cannot be understated for business leaders. “Leaders in an organization need to be trained on the concepts of BPM in order to understand the power and the subsequent responsibilities they have to keep their organization firing at all cylinders,” writes BPM thought leader Caspar Jans. Jans co-hosts BPM360, a podcast on all things related to BPM, and developed the BPM Adoption Framework – a usable resource designed to help business leaders apply BPM concepts and strategies.
