Building an Integrated Management Platform for Process Excellence
Helping shift the culture of a 90 year old company
YPF, an Argentinian oil & gas company, was one of the worldâs first energy companies to become vertically integrated â doing everything from getting oil out of the ground through to distributing it to customers. Since its founding in 1922, it has alternated between state ownership to private ownership and back again (it was renationalized earlier this year). And like many companies, it carried the weight of this history in its processes â with its ways of working, procedures, and operations building up over nearly a century.
In 2005, the company embarked on a drive to standardize and roll out best practices across its global businesses. But with widely varying business operations distributed around the globe, modernizing and updating the companyâs processes was never going to be easy. The stakes are particularly high in the oil & gas industry as a minor deviation in a process can have a disastrous impact on human safety and the environment.
A little over 5 years on and the company has achieved major progress, with optimized and improved processes across its global business units. In this webinar, Sebastian Fleisman, Corporate Manager of Quality and Standards at YPF and a winner of PEX Networkâs Deployment Leader of the Year Award, shares the companyâs process excellence journey:
- Hear how YPF transformed both the processes and culture of a 90 year old company and gain from Fleismanâs practical experience at the âcoal faceâ of what it really takes to get buy in from both executives and workers on the âshop floorâ
- Understand the importance of engaging staff in process improvement and get practical ideas on how to overcome the challenges of dispersing best practice across distributed operations
- Obtain practical insight into key lessons learned and the challenges the company faced on their path to process maturity and reasons that starting with the culture and processes first before technology was key to success
