Taking robotization to the next level with hyperautomation principles
An automotive parts manufacturer has combined leading-edge technologies to create automated processes that boost employee performance
SEG Automotive head of automation CoE Vladimiro Ferreira’s recommendations for integrating systems included choosing the best partners, deciding what tasks would genuinely be improved from automation and taking a “people-centric” approach to digital transformation.
Joined by Tony Benedict, president of the Association of BPM Professionals International, for a conversational session at PEX Live: Intelligent Automation and Robotic Processes 2022, Ferreira said that understanding hyperautomation was the first step on an ambitious digital transformation journey. The automation experts argued that taking an intelligent automation approach would mean evolving beyond simply introducing robotic process automation (RPA), which Ferreira said was mainly used for repetitive, rules-based tasks. The AI component, he argued, needed to be combined with RPA to “add decision-making elements to processes”.
Hyperautomation, both speakers went on to explain, was “the approach to automation, rather than the tool or the technology…the principle of bringing together everything that can be automated [while] integrating our human colleagues with our digital colleagues”.
