Operational excellence integral to aviation safety
Operational excellence is essential to ensuring that aviation remains the safest mode of transport. That was a key takeaway from the ALTA Aviation Safety, Flight Ops & Training Summit. The event, held in Lima this week, brought together leaders and experts in aviation safety, operations and training.
In 2023, commercial aviation in the Americas achieved zero fatalities, a significant milestone for a sector that accounts for more than 35 percent of global air traffic, said Fabio Rabbani, ICAO South America regional director. “It is crucial that services remain fully available, with updated regulatory frameworks, infrastructure capable of supporting the increase in movements, trained personnel and above all, safe operations,” he added.

UK NHS Trust appoints new chief digital transformation officer at “critical time”
The Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) in the UK appointed David Newey as its new chief digital transformation officer on an interim basis. Newey previously served as chief information officer (CIO) at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
“I’m delighted to have someone with David’s experience to help improve our organization and make it fit for the 21st century,” commented Matthew Trainer, chief executive of BHRUT. “This is a major undertaking for the Trust and recent rollouts elsewhere have shown that introducing EPR carries significant risks.
