AWS forms new agentic AI group to enhance automation
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has formed a new group focused on agentic AI to enhance automation for users and customers, according to an internal email viewed by Reuters. The email, sent by AWS CEO Garman, indicated that the group will be led by AWS executive Swami Sivasubramanian. “Agentic AI has the potential to be the next multi-billion business for AWS,” Garman wrote. Sivasubramanian, previously VP of AI and data, will report directly to Garman, according to the email.
“We have the opportunity to help our customers innovate even faster and unlock more possibilities and I firmly believe that AI agents are core to this next wave of innovation,” Garman wrote. Amazon has already hinted at such capabilities in announcing an updated version of voice service Alexa.

Apple confronts AI shortcomings
Meanwhile, Apple appears to be grappling with a series of roadblocks in its AI features rollout, according to a Bloomberg report that cites anonymous sources. Apple Intelligence was aiming to roll out an advanced, “more conversational” update of Siri, but some employees in the company’s AI department now say the software is “running behind” and likely won’t be released until 2027. Apple’s models are “reaching their limits,” Bloomberg stated, citing issues surrounding poached talent and ineffective leadership.
“One of the most innovative companies in the history of the world has, at least so far, flopped in AI,” commented Avinash Patil, director and head of PMO at Oracle. “Welcome to Apple’s AI crisis. The company has been scrambling to catch up in generative artificial intelligence – the technology behind ChatGPT and other cutting-edge chatbots – but its rivals only seem to be getting further ahead.”

SAP partners with Vonage to deliver agentic AI through APIs
Cloud communications company Vonage, part of Ericsson, expanded its collaboration with SAP to help bring agentic AI-driven experiences to enterprises worldwide. By combining Vonage’s communications and network application programming interfaces (APIs) with SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) and SAP Business AI, the collaboration aims to create tangible impact through intelligent, next-generation applications integrated into existing workflows and systems, according to a press release. The collaboration also represents a significant step forward in revolutionizing how businesses use AI and network APIs to enhance operations and customer experiences, it added.
The pair are focusing on pilot use cases and proof-of-concept (POC) demonstrations, beginning with a showcase at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona. The companies are teaming up with Accenture to showcase a POC that demonstrates a multimodal application of Agentic AI showing how AI can amplify operational efficiency and customer experience through real-time network and communication-enabled insights.
“This collaboration with Vonage is a great example of how powerful AI agents will be able to handle multi-step processes, interacting with humans when there is the need and otherwise solving issues autonomously,” said Philipp Herzig, chief technology officer (CTO) and chief AI officer at SAP SE.
