Combining BPM and technology to safeguard customer interests
Vinod Srinivasa, assistant VP – OPEX at America’s leading multinational bank, set the tone for the event by emphasizing the necessity of combining BPM and technology to safeguard customer interests. Financial institutions, he stressed, have a fundamental responsibility to protect clients through best practices such as responsible pricing and ethical product delivery.
Srinivasa also highlighted the dangers of disconnected systems within organizations, citing research that links information silos to decreased revenue, increased risks and poor customer experiences. Addressing these challenges requires seamless system integration to improve business outcomes.

The critical role of process intelligence in business operations
Next up, Lars Reinkemeyer, chief evangelist and Caspar Jans, process management expert, both from Celonis, explored the critical role of process intelligence in shaping business operations. With 79 percent of leaders expressing a need for deeper process insights and 91 percent planning to adopt process mining within the next year, the discussion underscored the growing reliance on data-driven decision-making.
The speakers emphasized the importance of dedicated process excellence teams and sufficient budgets, with 91 percent of leaders linking these resources to business success. AI’s role in business processes was also examined, with 89 percent of leaders asserting that AI must understand business context to be truly effective. The session concluded with an exploration of process management’s evolution – from compliance-driven modeling to a transformative, action-oriented approach.

Tackling complex business process with process orchestration
Zishan Ali Khan, senior sales engineer at Camunda, then explored how process orchestration can help businesses manage complex, cross-functional business processes. He introduced Camunda, a universal process orchestrator built on open architecture, which supports AI integration to enhance automation and scalability. Citing successful implementations at Goldman Sachs and Dutch Telecom, he demonstrated how organizations can leverage Camunda’s flexible platform to streamline operations and drive efficiency.

Orange’s evolving operations strategy
Alexis Koalla, director operations strategy and transformation at Orange, provided a comprehensive overview of Orange’s AI operations (AIOPs) strategy, which is evolving to meet 2025 objectives. Key drivers include process excellence, agility, customer experience, incident management, sustainability and economic efficiency.
Koalla stressed the importance of cultural and mindset shifts in executing digital transformation and outlined a five-step AI implementation strategy, from problem identification to workforce training. Alexis also reinforced the company’s non-negotiable principles: customer-centric automation, DevOps culture and continuous optimization.

Exploring AI, low-code and digital transformation
We then heard from Jonathan Butler, group product manager at Nintex, who explored the role of AI and low-code development in business process automation. Butler emphasized AI’s potential for anomaly detection and process refinement.

This was followed by a discussion with John Stretton, associate director, process automation at EDP Renewables, exploring real-world examples of successful digital transformation initiatives, including supplier registration and sustainability reporting. The session underscored the importance of setting clear goals, employee engagement and the right technological tools in achieving efficiency and cost savings.

The final session of the day featured a panel with Dr Ingo von Pose, head of intercompany process excellence at Merck and Amparo Vives Calandin, lead business process improvement, Pension Insurance Corporation plc on the role of leadership in continuous improvement and process governance.
Amparo detailed how Pensions Insurance Corporation fosters a culture of process excellence, while Ingo shared insights from Merck on balancing harmonization and customization for optimal efficiency. Their collective emphasis on leadership, awareness and strategic change underscored the critical role of governance in sustained business success.
