SAP CTO Juergen Mueller steps down over “inappropriate” behavior

Business solutions giant SAP SE announced that Juergen Mueller, chief technology officer (CTO) and executive board member, will leave the company effective September 30, 2024. Mueller stated: “I want to address an incident at a past company event where my behavior was inappropriate. I regret being inconsiderate and sincerely apologize to everyone affected. I recognize my behavior at that moment did not reflect our values at SAP. I take full responsibility and believe stepping down is best for the company. I wish the team continued success.”

Mueller played a key role in establishing the SAP Business Technology Platform. “We thank Juergen Mueller for his significant accomplishments and wish him well in his future endeavors,“ said Pekka Ala-Pietilä, chairman of the supervisory board of SAP SE. In the interim, SAP CEO Christian Klein will assume responsibility for most of the technology and innovation board area that Mueller leads.

Nintex expands in Saudi Arabia

Process intelligence and automation vendor Nintex expanded its presence and investment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) with the opening of a new office in Riyadh. Nintex plans to hire and build out its team with local, valuable talent within the Kingdom, as well as further invest in its Nintex Automation K2® product offerings, according to a press release. Specific investment areas include translations and localization, modern experiences, integration and modernization and governance and management.

“Saudi Arabia is and will continue to be a critical market for technology as the Kingdom pursues ambitious goals around modernization and infrastructure to realize the opportunities within its Vision 2030 framework,” said Amit Mathradas, CEO of Nintex.

The announcement is a significant step forward in Nintex’s ongoing commitment to Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom’s ambitions for digital transformation and growth, added Ayman El-Hattab, regional VP, emerging markets at Nintex. “By establishing a Saudi Arabia office, hiring in-market experts and bolstering our key product for the region, Nintex supports the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals of creating a digital society, digital government and a future of innovation.”

Rossum launches e-invoicing Germany plugin to support compliance

Intelligent document processing (IDP) vendor Rossum released a new plugin to assist global enterprises in adapting to Germany’s impending e-invoicing mandate. The solution empowers businesses collaborating with German partners to maintain compliance while ensuring operational continuity, according to a press release. The plugin integrates with Rossum’s existing capabilities of processing PDF documents, enabling businesses to receive, understand and process invoices incoming in standardized EN 16931 formats like X-Rechnung and ZUGFeRD.

“Our new Germany e-invoicing plug-in offers a comprehensive and flexible approach to e-invoicing, eliminating the need for multiple vendors across countries and ensuring a smooth transition to these new requirements for global companies,” commented Tomas Gogar, CEO of Rossum. “With Rossum, businesses can process all invoice types on a single, unified platform, unlocking each country’s e-invoicing requirements as needed. This not only simplifies operations but also provides the flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs.”

Rossum also announced a new a strategic partnership with Qiado to enhance financial operations across Europe. 

iGrafx partners with Cornerstones to enhance BPM capabilities

Process excellence vendor iGrafx announced a new partnership with Cornerstones, a consultant specializing in business transformation with a focus on enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations. The new collaboration will bring modern business process management (BPM) capabilities in support of achieving successful ERP projects to clients across various industries, according to a press release. iGrafx’s tools will support Cornerstones in delivering BPM solutions to help organizations document, model and improve business processes, it added.

“At Cornerstones, we acknowledge that BPM is the foundation for efficient and value-creating transformations,” commented Sander Dyrvig, partner at Cornerstones. “To offer the best setup for executing projects, we have decided to collaborate with iGrafx to create a shared method for managing both transformations and ongoing optimizations.”

IBM publishes Digital Policy Agenda for EU policymakers

Technology company and BPM provider IBM released the Digital Policy Agenda for Europe, outlining key policy recommendations for the European Union’s (EU) new institutional mandate. The recommendations encourage European policymakers to promote open innovation and competitiveness by implementing existing AI policy, getting Europe quantum-ready and tackling skills shortages.

The six-pillar plan calls on EU leaders to enact digital policies that will:

  1. Make trusted AI a reality in Europe.
  2. Enhance Europe’s digital competitiveness.
  3. Strengthen resilience through collaboration with trusted partners.
  4. Restore the EU’s open trade policy.
  5. Promote green growth.
  6. Reduce the digital talent gap.

“We know that innovation will continue to accelerate over the next five years,” said Thomas Reynaert, VP, government and regulatory affairs, EMEA at IBM. “In parallel, the EU has a great opportunity in this mandate to demonstrate global leadership in technology by balancing robust policy with protecting a business-friendly environment.”

Rockwell automation rolls out “game changing” upgrading capabilities

Industrial automation and digital transformation firm Rockwell Automation released new capabilities in its FactoryTalk® PharmaSuite® that enhance system updates. With the addition of the high-performance Generic Upgrade Engine, part of the release of FactoryTalk PharmaSuite 11.02.00, manufacturers can upgrade systems faster, minimizing the downtime required to reap the benefits of the latest software updates, according to a press release.

The latest release also features an improved user audit trail experience to help ensure regulatory compliance and traceability by giving manufacturers quick access to a comprehensive, tamper-proof record of system actions, the company stated.
